Body in railcar; no crime suspected

UPDATE 9:30 a.m.:| Seattle Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore said the body was found during a routine inspection of a tanker car used for carrying powdered cement.

“We don’t know what caused it or how he ended up inside,” Moore said. Fire department rescue workers had to be lowered on ropes to enable them to reach and retrieve the body.

Original post:

Seattle police say foul play is not suspected in the death of a man whose body was found in a railcar about 2 a.m. today.

The car was at a cement plant in the 5400 block of West Marginal Way.

The man appears to have been dead for several days and may have been the victim of an accident, police say. The cause of death and the man’s identity will be determined by the King County Medical Examiner’s office.

Police said the railcar had recently been in Eastern Washington, but it is not known where the man got in the car.
