Hiker killed in fall east of Granite Falls identified

Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the hiker who died Monday near Granite Falls as Donald Allen Youngquist, 67, of Camano Island. He died of a blunt-force impact to the head, according to medical examiner.

Youngquist died after a fall east of Granite Falls and his body was recovered Monday night by a search-and-rescue crew, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said.

He fell about 12 feet while hiking off-trail near the Robe Valley trail just off the Mountain Loop Highway.
