Cops: Man took pizza, balloons from kid’s party

Seattle police say they arrested a man at Green Lake about 6 p.m. Wednesday after he reportedly crashed an 8-year-old’s party and made off with pizza and balloon animals.

Parents told police the 28-year-old suspect had sat down at a table in the park with several children, and ate several pieces of their pizza. Parents asked the man to leave, but the man refused and got into a heated exchange with the families at the party. So they called police, telling officers the man also took two balloon animals from the party.

When officers arrived, parents pointed out the shirtless, shoeless suspect lying in the grass near a wading pool. Officers said he appeared to be under the influence of a “potent relaxant.”

Officers checked to see if the man needed medical attention and offered to take him to a local hospital, but he declined and tried to walk away. At that point, police arrested the man for theft and took him to the King County Jail.
