Highway 9 to close again for fire control

Highway 9 near Mount Vernon will be closed to traffic for much of the day to allow helicopters to drop fire retardant on a brush fire.

The closure is to start once the morning fog lifts and is expected to last abotu 6 1/2 hours, WSDOT said.  It follows a closure in the same area Thursday.

The road closure is expected to affect northbound traffic at Big Lake Road and southbound traffic at the Big Rock roundabout.
