Hiker killed in fall west of Granite Falls

UPDATE AT 6:11 P.M.: The sheriff’s office has confirmed that the hiker died at the scene.  Identification of the victim, as well as cause and manner of death, will be released by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

ORIGINAL POST: The Snohomish County sheriff’s search-and-rescue team is trying to reach an injured man west of Granite Falls.

Family members hiking with the man said he is unconscious after falling about 12 feet on the Robe Valley trail, which is just off the Mountain Loop Highway. Search-and-rescue team members are hiking to the man as well as using a helicopter.

We’ll update this post as soon as we have more information.
