Hit and run in Des Moines injures two girls

Two girls, 8 and 12, were struck by a 2012 Nissan Murano Friday around 7:15 p.m as they walked on the shoulder of the 25700 block of 16th Avenue South in Des Moines.

The driver fled the scene but witnesses noted the car’s license plate number and provided it to police, who tracked the car to a Federal Way address and arrested the driver, a 52 year-old male. The suspect was booked on felony hit and run charges and transferred to the King County Jail.

The girls were scraped and bruised but sustained no life-threatening injuries.
