Inner tuber missing in Puyallup River

The Associated Press

SUMNER — Boats from the Pierce County sheriff’s office and other police and fire agencies are on the Puyallup River looking for a man who disappeared Monday evening while floating in an inner tube with friends near Sumner.

Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer told The News Tribune the 25-year-old from the Puyallup area entered the river about 6 p.m. with two friends. They got out of the water about 8 p.m. When he didn’t show up they began searching and called authorities about midnight

The missing man was not wearing a life vest.

KOMO-TV reports searchers found the inner tube, but no sign of the man himself.
