Man with prior DUI arrested in truck-bicycle collision

A driver with a prior DUI arrest was booked into the King County Jail Friday night after colliding with a cyclist on Westlake Avenue North.

Seattle police spokeswoman Detective Renee Witt said the 56-year-old man showed signs of impairment after his pickup truck collided with a bicycle in the 2700 block of Westlake Avenue North at about 8 p.m.

Witt said the man’s pickup truck made a left turn in front of the bicycle, causing the female cyclist to hit the truck and be thrown from the bicycle. The 29-year-old cyclist suffered a serious hand injury and was taken to Harborview Medical Center.

Witt said the pickup driver was booked on investigation of vehicular assault.
