Meydenbauer Beach Park closed to swimming; bacteria level too high

The City of Bellevue has closed the swimming area at Meydenbauer Beach Park because of high fecal bacteria levels in the water. The park area remains open, however.

The closure is precautionary and the cause of the elevated bacteria levels is being investigated, according to the Bellevue Parks and Community Services Department.

Signs will be posted near the swimming area throughout the closure. When the bacteria count drops to a safe level the area will be reopened.

The city will continue to test and monitor the water. All other swim areas at Bellevue beaches have tested and found to be within normal ranges.
