Woman sexually assaulted while sleeping in tent; suspect at large

Seattle police are looking for a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman Friday morning as she slept at her Sodo campsite.

The victim was alone and asleep in her makeshift tent at about 2 a.m. when the suspect entered, held her down, assaulted and raped her, according to police.  At about 5:30 a.m., the victim contacted an unknown good Samaritan who was passing by.

The Seattle Fire Department provided treatment for the woman, who was bleeding from facial injuries.   The victim sustained swelling and lacerations to her face, bruising to the back of her head and sore ribs. She was transported to Harborview Medical Center.

The suspect was wearing blue-jean shorts, a red Nike belt with “N” on buckle and red Nike shoes.
