UPDATE: Yacht fire finally out at San Juan Island marina

UPDATE 5:48 p.m. | After burning for hours and sending up thick black smoke, firefighters were able to put out the flames, The Associated Press reports. The yacht was heavily damaged, but other vessels near by were not.

A Washington state Ecology Department spokesman said the marina deployed an oil spill containment boom as a precaution and a spill response contractor was standing by. However, spokesman Dustin Terpening said no fuel spill was reported as of mid-afternoon Wednesday.
