Man in critical condition after being pulled from Lake Union

Seattle medics, Harbor Patrol officers and bystanders tried to help a man who jumped into  South Lake Union and failed to resurface on his own.

Sue Stangl, Seattle fire department spokeswoman, said bystanders saw the man jump in and noticed he had not come back up.  They dived in and brought him to the surface, she said.

The Harbor Patrol arrived and took the man aboard before medics from Seattle Fire Department transported  him to Harborview Medical Center, where Stangl said he was in critical condition.

Further details were not immediately available.
