Man’s fall from downtown Seattle parking garage likely suicide

A man fell to his death Monday afternoon from the top of a nine-story parking garage in downtown Seattle in what police say is a likely suicide.

“Our preliminary investigation indicates it is probably a suicide,” said Seattle police spokesman Jeff Kappel, adding that it will be up to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the man’s cause of death.

Around 2 p.m., police were called to the Second and Union Parking Garage on Second Avenue, where they found the man dead on the sidewalk.

According to officers on the scene, the man was smoking crack inside the parking structure shortly before his death.
