New consul general of Japan now in Seattle

Masahiro Omura has arrived to serve as the new consul general of Japan in Seattle. Before taking his new position, Omura has served since September 2011 as the deputy director general of a Japanese government institution that trains mid-career public servants in the Japanese government. He has also worked as a diplomat in Kenya, Vienna and Jakarta.

The position represents Japan to Washington state, Montana and northern Idaho.

Omura is originally from Tokyo and has a master’s degree from Yale University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tokyo.
