The National Weather Service says there’s a high wildfire danger from Friday afternoon through Sunday evening across much of Western and Eastern Washington.
Forecasters say the risk comes from dry lightning strikes as thunderstorms move across the state.
Because of dry conditions, the red-flag warning area includes the western Cascades and Puget Sound area south into Oregon. The red-flag warning also covers the southeast corner of Washington, eastern Oregon and parts of Idaho.
Expected thunderstorms also raise the possibility of flash flooding on the east slopes of the Cascades.
Forecasters say the summer pattern of morning clouds and afternoon sunshine will likely return next week.
