Woman arrested in assault on children at Seattle waterfront
A 30-year-old woman who allegedly assaulted two children and pushed a man on the Seattle waterfront around 7 p.m. Friday was arrested and taken to King County Jail, according to Seattle police.
Police said the woman was in the outside eating area of Ivar’s Seafood Restaurant in the 1000 block of Alaskan Way when, for reasons not yet known, she accosted and shoved a 13-year old boy. When his father confronted her, she pushed him as well, police said.
A short time later, she grabbed a boy estimated to be 4 or 5 years old and held him in a bear hug, refusing to release him even after his mother demanded she do so, police said. The child’s father then wrestled him from the suspect’s grasp.
The incident was initially reported as an attempted child abduction, but the woman was booked into jail on investigation of assault, police said.
The younger boy and his parents boarded a ferry and left the area before Seattle Police were able to interview them.
