Woman OK after being hit by her own car

A woman in her 60s was taken to Harborview Medical Center today after an unusual incident in which she was hit by her own car.

It’s believed the woman was getting out of her car after parking at a Ballard grocery store and the car rolled backward as she got out, striking her, said Seattle Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore.

The woman was hit by the car, but was not run over, he said. She suffered scrapes and bruises in the incident outside Ballard Market at 1400 Northwest 56th St.

The woman was taken to the hospital largely as a precaution and to be checked for possible internal injuries, Moore said.
