WSDOT worker stabbed at Seattle homeless encampment

A Washington State Department of Transportation worker posting temporary evacuation signs was attacked at a South Seattle homeless camp by a knife-wielding man on Friday.

KOMO News reports that the worker managed to block his attacker but sustained a shallow stab wound to the chest. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Seattle police arrested the suspected attacker and booked him into King County Jail.

Officials say this is the first time an employee has been attacked while posting clean-up notices at a homeless camp. They are now considering requesting police escorts when visiting the camp off Meyers Way.
