YMCA to reopen Gig Harbor camp after Norovirus outbreak

The YMCA’s Camp Seymour in Gig Harbor will open Sunday after it was closed for about a week and a half because of a Norovirus outbreak.

Two cleaning companies were hired to sanitize the camp, said Renée Quinn, community-relations director for the YMCA. ServPro and Polygon used a bleach-based cleaner to clean the kitchen, offices, amphitheater, cabins, program areas and other parts of the camp.

“Just sort of a floor-to-ceiling wipe-down to make sure that any virus was killed and couldn’t spread,” she said.

Nearly 160 campers will arrive at camp on Sunday,  including some who had to leave when the camp was shut down two weeks ago.
