2 teens killed when car strikes tree in Thurston County

MCCLEARY, Pierce County — The Washington State Patrol says two people were killed Wednesday after crashing into a tree with enough force to split the car in half.

According to trooper Guy Gill, 19-year-old man from Montesano and a 19-year-old woman from McCleary were in the car. The man, who was the driver, was not using a seat belt was ejected from the car.

Gill says speed was a factor in the crash.

The accident happened on eastbound Highway 8, 10 miles east of McCleary, according to the Olympian newspaper.
