Fire prompts evacuation of North Seattle motel
A fire at a motel on Aurora Avenue North that prompted the evacuation of all occupants has been put out, according to the Seattle Fire Department.
The fire was reported at 11:09 a.m. in the 8900 block of Aurora Avenue North with heavy smoke pouring from the building, according to fire department spokesman Kyle Moore.
Firefighters arrived about 5 minutes after the first call, and the fire was contained in another 5 minutes, he said. There were no reports of injuries.
The fire department says a preliminary investigation indicates the fire likely started in a mattress and spread to the room.
