Friday Memo: ‘God’s wrath’ and a weapons cache … pilot’s heart attack … grocery strike ahead?

“I am God’s Wrath.” Those are words from a manifesto federal agents say they found in the barricaded house of a Spokane man who also had a cache of weapons. The man, who was taken into custody yesterday, reportedly is being investigated for stalking a tribal police officer. The author of the manifesto declares himself the embodiment of God’s wrath. Oh, and he also wrote about having a “kill room,” sort of like you might see on TV’s serial-killer show “Dexter” …

How tragic and frightening this is: Stricken captain of Seattle-bound flight dies after emergency landing

Grocery workers say OK to a strike: Nearly 100 percent of the members of the union representing the workers in our area have authorized a strike should an agreement not be reached on a new contract soon. That doesn’t mean they will strike, but who knows. Would you support the workers if they do walk off the job? Vote in our poll. (If you did support the workers, where would you buy your food?) The union represents 30,000 workers at Safeway, Fred Meyer, QFC and Albertson’s.

A warning to UW students: A couple of robberies around the university have generated warnings that all should be aware that they could be victims of a stickup. How would you like to be a freshman, living away from home for the first time, walking along the street at night when someone with a gun strips you of your money and your iPhone? Sheesh.
