Machete-wielding man arrested in Lake City

Seattle police arrested a 53-year-old man on Friday after receiving 911 calls about his allegedly threatening behavior around the Lake City neighborhood.

Police said they were called to the a dollar store on Lake City Way around 11 a.m. for reports of the man “growling, performing martial arts moves and brandishing a machete.”  Just before officers arrived, they were told that the man had put his weapon away and was gone.

Officers searched the neighborhood for him, but it wasn’t until after 2 p.m that they were directed to him by a woman who said he had pointed his machete at her. The woman described the man as being “wild-eyed,” police said.

Officers found the man and his machete near Northeast 125th Street and Lake City Way. The man will be booked into the King County Jail for a weapons violation, police said.
