Man killed when car strikes Seattle bridge guardrail

A one-car accident on 12th Avenue South Bridge early this morning  left one man dead and two injured, Seattle police reported.

A passenger in the back seat, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene after the white Oldsmobile in which he was riding struck a guardrail around 3:13 a.m on the bridge also known as the Jose Rizal Bridge, which crosses over South Dearborn Street.

The driver and a front-seat passenger, both men in their 20s, were taken to Harborview Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening.

“No other vehicles appear to be involved in the collision, but circumstances leading up to the crash remain unknown and remain under active investigation,” Det. Jeff Kappel reported in a statement.
