State Patrol: Speed, alcohol likely in fatal Snohomish County crash
A 28-year-old Mount Vernon woman died this morning in a single-car accident in which police say excessive speed and alcohol likely played a role.
Washington State Patrol says the woman, whose name has not been released to the public, was driving north on Interstate 5 shortly before 3 a.m. this morning when she took the off-ramp to 172nd Drive Northeast at a high rate of speed.
The woman’s 1997 Acura drifted off the roadway, struck a sign and rolled over, police said.
Though the woman was wearing a seatbelt, she was killed in the crash, according to the WSP.
