UPDATE: Charges filed in fatal Pioneer Square knife attack

UPDATE AT 3:48 P.M.: Donnell D. Jackson was charged today with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in the Friday knife attack in Pioneer Square.

Jackson is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Sept. 30.

ORIGINAL POST: Kristin Ito, the woman who survived a knife attack Friday in Pioneer Square, has been released from Harborview Medical Center, the hospital said today. Ito was discharged on Monday, the hospital said, and is declining media interviews.

Ito, 30, and her boyfriend, Shoreline Community College Professor Troy Wolff, were walking near Third Avenue South and South Jackson Street around 10:30 p.m. Friday when they were randomly attacked by a stranger armed with a knife, police said. Wolff, 46, died from his injuries Saturday.

The suspect in the attack, Donnell D. Jackson, 44, is being held in the King County Jail in lieu of  at $2 million bail. The deadline to file charges is Wednesday.
