UW students robbed at gunpoint Sunday night

Two University of Washington students were robbed at gunpoint just north of campus on Sunday night, and one of the victims was punched in the face, UW police say.

The robbery occurred around 11:43 p.m. in the 5000 block of 17th Avenue Northeast, just north of Northeast 50th Street.

According to police, the two students, a man and a woman, were walking north when four men approached them from behind. The men took the woman’s cellphone and purse, and one of them punched the man in the face, giving him a bloody nose, police said.

During the robbery, one of the men pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the victims.

Seattle police are investigating the incident.
