Young moose hangs around Entiat for 2 weeks

ENTIAT, Chelan County (AP) — Leave the moose alone. That’s the advice the state Fish and Wildlife Department is giving to residents of Entiat.

The Wenatchee World reports a young moose has been hanging out around town for two weeks and resting on lawns.

Wildlife Sgt. Dan Klump says cooler weather usually triggers moose to move on and agents are hoping this one soon travels up the Entiat Valley.

If there’s a confrontation with humans, agents would have to tranquilize the moose and relocate it — a major operation that’s traumatic for the animal.

There’s a Twitter photo of the moose resting on a lawn in the city.
