The Associated Press

QUINCY, Grant County — Burlington Northern Santa Fe is offering a $5,000 reward to help catch whoever fired at a freight train west of Quincy.

Spokesman Gus Melonas told The Wenatchee World (http://bit.ly/19zLru3) the engine was hit 15 times by shots fired from a car that followed the train the night of Sept. 24. Shots were fired from three locations. The engineer and conductor on the train were not hurt.

The railroad is working with investigators from the Grant and Douglas County sheriff’s offices and the Washington State Patrol.
