18-year-old man shot and killed in Federal Way last night

UPDATE: 8:40 p.m. | The shooting victim has been identified by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office as as 18-year-old Deshawn Boykin. He died from multiple gunshot wounds, and the Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death a homicide.

The News Tribune of Tacoma is reporting that three people, two men and a woman, have been arrested in Tacoma in connection with Boykin’s death.

UPDATE: 8:50 a.m. | An 18-year-old man was shot to death in Federal Way Thursday night and police are searching for suspects.

Federal Way Police Cmdr. Stan McCall said about 8:45 a.m. that investigators are at several houses in Tacoma this morning and hope to have someone in custody within the hour.

Officers were called to the 31500 block of 1st Avenue South at 8:43 p.m. for a report of gunfire. Officers were unable to find anything, but about 10 minutes later they received a report of a man who had been shot being dropped off at St. Francis Hospital, according to Federal Way police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock in a statement .

The man died at the hospital. The man’s brother, who took him to the hospital, was being interviewed by police, Schrock said.

Police have not identified the man slain.
