2 suspects arrested in armed robbery of South Seattle jewelry store
Seattle police arrested two men Thursday afternoon in connection with the armed robbery of a South Seattle jewelry store on Wednesday, a police report said.
The suspects, two men, ages 19 and 26, were taken into custody at a Safeway grocery in the 9200 block of Rainier Avenue South, the report said. Police found two handguns on the pair when they were arrested.
An employee at the jewelry store, located in the 6400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South, told police two men pulled out handguns and demanded gold jewelry about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday.
The suspects were unable to get into the locked glass jewelry display cases, but they took several pieces from unlocked cases and a couple of trays of costume jewelry before they drove off in a silver van, a police report said.
