Chipotle employee assaulted with hot sauce bottle

A man was arrested near a downtown Seattle Chipotle restaurant last night after he attacked an employee with a bottle of hot sauce, according to police.

The employee was hit in the face with the glass bottle about 7:30 p.m. after wishing good evening to a customer leaving the restaurant, police said. The employee suffered several cuts on his face. Another customer called 911 and with the dispatcher still on the line, followed the attacker down the street.

When officers arrived, they were flagged down by two people who pointed out the attacker, a man dressed in a yellow jacket. When police confronted him, they noticed that he was “covered in hot sauce,” police spokeswoman Renee Witt said in a news release.

The Chipotle employee was taken to a nearby hospital where he received stitches for his wounds, police said.

The 35-year-old suspect, who has not been identified, was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of assault.

The restaurant is located in the 1500 block of 2nd Avenue.
