A house fire in Mountlake Terrace Thursday night displaced six renters and caused more than $260,000 in damage, according to a news release from Snohomish County Fire District 1.

A woman, her son and her two grandsons, the only ones inside at the time, were able to safely escape the house, in the 22800 block of 41st Place West, the release said. Firefighters from District 1 and Lynnwood put out the blaze in about 20 minutes. No one was injured.

Investigators determined the fire may have been caused by a grill behind the house that had been used earlier in the evening, the release said.

The Red Cross is assisting the residents, as the house is uninhabitable, the release said.
