Man, 20, slashed with machete during fight in Everett
A 20-year-old man was taken to Harborview Medical Center after being slashed in the face with a machete in a fight in Everett on Wednesday evening, police said.
The man is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries, Everett police spokesman Aaron Snell said.
The fight began between two brothers in the 3200 block of 18th Street, and when a 47-year-old bystander stepped in to break it up, the brothers turned on him, Snell said. The man was hit with a baseball bat, and in retaliation he pulled out a machete and swung it at the pair, slashing one of them in the face, Snell said.
The man with the machete has been arrested and is being questioned, Snell said, but it’s not clear whether charges will be filed.
The other brother ran off, and Everett police, who responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m., have not yet been able to find him, Snell said.
Snell said he didn’t know whether the brothers knew the other man, but he said all three are believed to live in the same neighborhood.
