Man found dead after being hit by Metro bus is identified

The man found dead early Monday after being hit by a Metro bus has been identified as Peter Cooper, 23, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The determination of the cause and manner of Cooper’s death is pending further investigation, according to medical examiners.

Seattle police are investigating the possibility that Cooper, who was found dead after being hit by a bus on Capitol Hill, may have been down in the street before the bus got there.

Shortly after 6 a.m., someone ran into the Police Department’s East Precinct station on 12th Avenue, saying there had been a serious accident involving a bus, police Lt. Randy Yamanaka said. He said officers who responded found a man dead in the street, behind the bus, which was facing westbound at midblock.

Yamanaka said there were three passengers on the bus. None was injured.
