Monday Memo: Grocery strike poll … Kenmore body … Honoring Don James

Are you prepared for a grocery workers’ strike? Could happen tonight, or not. Negotiations continue. How much food can you buy at a convenience store, if that’s what it comes to? We’ve asked before, but what the heck: Will you cross a picket line to buy your groceries? Vote in our poll. (Mobile users can vote here.)

Man’s body found: A woman was walking her dog very early this morning when she found a body along the side of the road in Kenmore. Police apparently know the victim’s identity, and it looks like the man may have been hit by a car.

Hey, wasn’t there supposed to be some sun over the weekend? Yeah, that didn’t happen. And don’t expect any sun for the next few days either. Gray, gray and gray. Seattle? You bet. National Weather Service forecast

What’s up with the Sounders? (We could ask the same of the Huskies after Saturday’s rout, but we don’t even want to begin to go there.) The Sounders have gone six matches without a win. Will they even make the playoffs this year?

We know you’ve already read it, but it’s worth reading again: Farewell to a Husky football legend: Don James: 1932-2013.

And here’s another passing of note. Someone who was an environmentalist’s environmentalist: Marvin Durning, environmental attorney, dies at 84

The Rainier “R”

The big “R.” It’s worth your time to meet the artists behind the new Rainier “R” sign. We hate the word “iconic,” so we didn’t use it.
