Police arrest suspect in fatal Everett shooting

Everett police have arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with last night’s fatal shooting on Evergreen Way.

Several people were detained following the 8:30 p.m. shooting in a parking lot between the Sunrise Motor Inn and a Denny’s restaurant at 8400 Evergreen Way, police said. All have been released except for the suspect, an Everett man who has been booked into the Snohomish County Jail on related charges, police said.

Police believe the suspect rented a room at the Sunrise Inn, where he was selling narcotics. After the shooting, he fled and stashed a revolver in a trash bin in South Everett before he was detained, police say.

Witnesses had told police they saw a vehicle speed out of the parking lot after the shooting, police spokesman police said.

According to court records, the suspect has multiple criminal convictions, including for assault, possession of stolen property, reckless endangerment, theft and harassment-domestic violence.
