Tuesday Memo: Flips over dip … Rant & Rave live chat … Airplane seat poll

National Weather Service forecast

National Weather Service forecast

I want my dip: A man went bonkers in a Jack in the Box in Seattle when told he’d have to pay a quarter for a third packet of ranch dressing, say police. The person behind the counter gave the crazed man the third packet for free, but that didn’t quiet him. Then a 68-year-old man stepped in to quell the disturbance, but he got pushed to the ground. He didn’t get seriously hurt, and the irate ranch dressing guy rode off on a bicycle.

Do you read Rant & Rave every Sunday? Join Madeline McKenzie, who prepares the feature each week, for a live chat at noon Wednesday on seattletimes.com. Hear some of the best rants of all time – like the one about the thief who stole a statue of the Virgin Mary – and raves that will warm your heart. Here’s a recent Rant & Rave for your perusal.

Speaking of rants, airplane seats are getting even smaller: Seriously? Under the new configurations, the airlines will be able to cram more travelers onto planes, and that of course means more money for the airlines. The new seats are so-called slimlines and will allow seats  to be about an inch closer together, front to back. And you’ll notice on Alaska Airlines planes that tray tables will be a bit smaller. Like we said, seriously? How do you rate your seat comfort in coach on planes under existing conditions? Vote in our poll. (Mobile users can vote here.

Married for 68 years: How sad that Floyd Nordhagen, 92, and Margaret Nordhagen, 88, died Sunday when they pulled out in front of an oncoming pickup on a road in Spokane County.
