Ugly morning commute on I-5 south into Seattle
UPDATE 9:10 a.m.:
Things are improving for commuters heading in Seattle on southbound I-5.
The commute, which had been more than 100 minutes at one point this morning, is down to just over an hour, according to the Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT). The average morning commute time from Lynnwood to Seattle on I-5 south is 43 minutes.
Brace yourself. The morning commute’s been ugly.
Motorists heading south from Lynnwood to Seattle on Interstate 5 should expect it to take them more than 100 minutes, yes, more than an hour and a half.
There’s no real reason for the delay, other than a small crash on I-5 near Yesler earlier this morning. Oh, yeah, there’s that.
Although the accident was cleared by 8 a.m., it caused a 16-mile backup on southbound I-5, said Bart Treece, WSDOT spokesman.
A spokesman for the State Patrol said nobody was hurt in the I-5 crash.
Treece was working on pulling the average travel time from Lynnwood to Seattle during the morning commute.
