WSP asks public’s help in solving fatal hit-and-run
A fatal accident on Interstate 5 near Spokane Street in Seattle on Oct. 25 was a hit-and-run, Washington State Patrol investigators now believe.
The driver of a teal 1997 Toyota Corolla was fatally injured in the accident, which occurred at 7 p.m. in heavy rush-hour traffic. The State Patrol said Thursday a copper-brown commercial vehicle towing a trailer may have “made contact” with the northbound car, causing it to veer into a cement barrier on the left side of the roadway.
Mesay K. Asfaw, 32, the car driver, was pronounced dead at Harborview Medical Center.
Anyone with information that could help identify the potential hit-and-run vehicle is asked to call State Patrol Detective Russ Haake at 425-401-7717 or Detective Sgt. Stacy Moate at 425-401-7745.
