Father and son arrested in fatal shooting of hunter in Okanogan County

The Associated Press

OKANOGAN — Two north-central Washington men have been arrested for investigation of first-degree murder in the Sept. 2 shooting death of a Hoquiam man who was hunting grouse near their land.

Okanogan County sheriff’s officers say 27-year-old Adam Jennings and 57-year-old John Jennings were arrested Tuesday in the death of 52-year-old Michael Carrigan. The Wenatchee World says the two Chesaw men are father and son.

Undersheriff Joe Somday says no motive has been determined for the shooting.

Carrigan and George Stover of Hoquiam were grouse hunting. Carrigan got out of a truck to shoot at a grouse and was shot himself. Stover drove away and called for help.

Shortly after the shooting, deputies seized weapons and ammunition from the Jennings’ home, located about 100 yards from where Carrigan was shot.
