UPDATE AT 2:27 P.M.: Kent police initially reported the boy died, but Sgt. Robert Constant now says he was in critical condition on life support, awaiting final disposition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
ORIGINAL POST: A Kentridge High School student was killed and two other drivers were injured this morning in a three-vehicle crash in Kent.
A vehicle driven by a 49-year-old woman was heading north on 120th Place Southeast when she turned left onto Southeast 208th Street, Kent police said. A second vehicle, driven by a 16-year-old Kentridge High student heading to school, struck the car, causing the boy’s car to lose control and cross into the westbound lanes of Southeast 208th Street, police said.
A westbound vehicle, driven by a 58-year-old woman, then struck the boy’s car.
Kent police arrived a short time later and started CPR on the injured boy. He was taken to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries, according to police.
The two other drivers were also hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries and both are in stable condition.
“There are multiple factors to this collision scene, and it is too early in the investigation to make any specific determinations,” said Kent police Sgt. Robert Constant.
