A Seattle man who police say was spotted by a teenage girl masturbating inside a parked van near Chief Sealth High School has been charged with indecent exposure.
Danen Romine, 34, was booked into the King County Jail on Oct. 25th and soon released. He was charged with the felony on Nov. 14.
Prosecutors say that around 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 25, police were dispatched to the van parked at 26th Avenue Southwest and Southwest Thistle Street. The girl, 17, told police she saw the man masturbating inside the van when she walked by.
The girl, a student at the school, “walked quickly” to the principal’s office. Once there, she dialed 911, according to charges.
Officers stopped a man matching the description provided by the teen driving a blue van near 24th Avenue Southwest and Southwest Thistle Street. The man, identified by police as Romine, told police that he had been on the side of the road texting.
Romine’s arrest comes around the same time Seattle police investigated a string of indecent exposure incidents outside Holy Rosary School and Westside School, both in West Seattle. Romine was not charged in connection with those incidents.
