Bellevue fire investigators have been unable to determine what caused the blaze that damaged the Bellevue home of Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez earlier this month.

The Nov. 4 fire started in the laundry room and caused about $250,000 in damage.

Bellevue fire Lt. Richard Burke said in an email the cause of the fire was ruled “undetermined” and the case has been turned over to the Hernandez family and their insurance company.

Hernandez and his wife, Sandra, were in Napa, Calif., at the time of the fire. The pitcher’s agent, Wil Polidor, said the couple’s two children were at a mall with their nanny and the pitcher’s mother-in-law.

The 5,100-square-foot, five-bedroom, four-bath house was built in 2009 and is valued at $2.85 million, according to King County public records.
