Young woman fights off attacker in South Seattle

Seattle police are looking for a man who grabbed a young woman from behind, threw her down, covered her mouth and groped her after she got off the No. 7 bus just before 11 p.m. Wednesday in the 4200 block of  South Dawson Street.

The man ran away after the female, described by police as a juvenile, bit his hand, fought him and started screaming for help. She ran to a nearby residence.

An arrest has not been made.

The man ran west on South Dawson Street to 42nd Avenue South, and a witness saw him run south on 42nd Avenue South to Rainier Avenue South and then north on Rainier, according to police. A police dog tracked him to the 5200 block of Rainier Avenue South, police said. Surveillance video shows the man ran to a vehicle parked on Rainier Avenue South, police said.

Police reported the suspect  was wearing something similar to a ski mask with cut outs for the eyes and nose. He’s described as 5-foot-11, 200 pounds, with short hair and wearing a dark blue jacket, blue jeans and white shoes.
