3-month sentence for syringe in Poulsbo store

The Associated Press

PORT ORCHARD — A man who left a syringe plunged into a package of sausage at a Walmart store in Poulsbo was sentenced to three months in the Kitsap County Jail.

The Kitsap Sun newspaper reports 33-year-old Daniel Oaks Thieman, of Kingston, pleaded guilty to first-degree malicious mischief for the Oct. 25 incident and agreed to pay restitution.

Walmart threw out $19,000 worth of meat as a safety precaution after a customer found the syringe in a package of Jimmy Dean sausage.

Thieman was identified through surveillance video. He told police he made a stupid decision while sleep-deprived and on heroin.
