Amber Alert canceled; Kennewick girl safe in Mexico
An Amber Alert issued in Kennewick on Dec. 6 was canceled Tuesday afternoon when police confirmed that the 14-year-old girl who went missing is safe in Jalisco, Mexico.
Elizabeth Romero was able to call her mother and let her know she is OK, said Kennewick Police Sergeant Ken Lattin.
“The good news is that the victim has family in Mexico, so her mother will be working to get her connected with family down there,” he said.
Police issued a warrant for the arrest of Edwardo Flores Rosales, the 19-year-old man who is believed to have taken Romero to Mexico.
“We still have a lot of unanswered questions,” Lattin said.
