Beaver trap breaks Oregon man’s leg

COQUILLE, Ore. (AP) — A young man’s leg was broken last weekend after stepping into a beaver trap near a park here, according to Coquille police.

The man stepped into the trap after his dog got loose and he was trying to retrieve it, Police Chief Janice Blue told The World newspaper of Coos Bay.

Passers-by heard the man’s screams for help and called 911. A  firefighter using bolt cutters finally freed the man.

Blue says beaver dams have been causing floods in the marshy area and a trapper had permission to set the trap there.
