Bremerton 12-year-old arrested after allegedly making ‘hit list’

The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 12-year-old Bremerton boy after allegedly discovering a school map and handwritten, 18-person “hit list” in his possession.

The boy was booked into Kitsap County Youth Services Center on a charge of harassment — threats to kill, according to a news release.

Deputies worked with the FBI after being alerted by a parent monitoring an Internet chat room, according to the news release. They traced the messages to the Ridgetop Junior High School student last week, and then discovered the materials in his possession at school.

The boy made an initial appearance in court last Thursday, and was released into the custody of a parent.

In the news release, a spokesman wrote that “the details uncovered by investigators are seriously disconcerting, however sheriff’s detectives do not believe that the student had the available means to implement and carry out his threats.”
