Regional Justice Center inmate found dead in cell

A 39-year-old inmate at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent was found dead in his cell Thursday.

The inmate, whose identity has not been released, was found dead at 6:01 p.m.

The man had been booked into the King County Jail in downtown Seattle by Renton police on Dec. 16 for investigation of felony probation violation and investigation of violating a domestic-violence protection order. He was transferred to the Kent jail the following day, according to jail staff.

The man’s death in under investigation.
